Kia Ora refreshed nerds!

Today's Topic: Gaming resolutions

Towards the end of last year, I began to compile a list of all the RPG systems that I have played and run. If you can remember what you've played, I highly recommend doing this, as it gave me some really interesting insights into my gaming habits.

At the time of writing this, I have played 80 RPG systems. 19 of those have been GMless and the number of games that I have GMed but not played is greater than the number I have both GMed and played.

Having this resource allows me to make some New Year gaming resolutions that I can track on my list!
  1. Increase the number of games I have played and GMed. (Currently 8)
  2. Play some of the games on my list of "notable absences"
  3. GM my first D&D game.

Yes, I came into roleplaying games from a fairly strange angle, so although I have GMed 20 different systems, none of those have been D&D... yet!

If you are interested, you can keep track of the systems I have played here!

What I'm playing

The release of the Last Jedi has got a lot of us into the Star Wars mood, so I got to play in my first game of Fantasy Flight's Star Wars RPG, run by my flatmate. My Trandoshan, Fep, was a bodyguard who was trying to protect the medical droid D0C (also a PC) who was his deceased father's life's work. Although it was only a one off game, I grew really attached to my character. I think that having some strong and interesting relationships with the other PCs is crucial in order to figure out who your character is. As I found out from the character creation process of Fiasco, the fastest way to know your character is knowing how they relate to others around them.

Here's a thing

I had this general idea for a simple microsystem. At the moment, it is without any particular setting but I think it might be well suited to a Starship Troopers inspired scenario. It has as yet not been playtested at all, so have fun!

My memory is nowhere near good enough to list all the games I've played. I did start on D&D though (very conventional)

I've been pushing dice.camp as a roleplaying-oriented social network in other places - has it got around to you? Might be a useful place if you're trying to get more people to look at stuff (or just if you want to hang with Vincent Baker and Epidiah Ravichol and other awesome people).
